This marks the completion of the concrete frame section of the new school following 6 months of work. The last concrete was laid by Provost Joan Sturgeon to mark the end of another stage of the construction process. The new state-of-the-art campus is due for completion in December 2016 and will serve Garnock Valleys' 3 towns, Beith, Kilbirnie and Dalry, bringing together Garnock Academy with Glengarnock Primary School and Glengarnock Early Years Centre.

Local firm JD Pierce are currently erecting the steel frames for the facility, with this stage set to be completed over the coming weeks. The new campus will include a high quality 6 lane swimming pool leisure facility to replace Garnock Pool and a synthetic pitch suitable for rugby and football.

Cabinet Minister Tony Gurney added:

" I am delighted with the progress being made. As more work gets done you start to visualise just how the school will look and it's really going to be something special for this and future generations of young people."

" Our school estate in North Ayrshire is something we are incredibly proud of. The new campus will be another addition to growing list of top-class schools, leisure and community facilities."
