A start on Marr!

 Marr College Modernisation 3
We are delivering this ambitious project along with our participants at South Ayrshire Council and our Tier-1 Contractor Kier Construction Scotland. Speaking at the launch of the construction works Dr Alasdair Allan, Minister for learning said:

"I was delighted to be a part of the ceremony which marks an exciting milestone for the new Marr College. I am pleased to see the designs for the school combine the historic elements of the building with modern architecture to create a state-of-the-art environemnt for the pupils to learn in. The school will also provide modern leisure facilities the whole community will enjoy for generations to come. The Scottish Government have worked closely with South Ayrshire Council to help improve it's school estate and I am pleased we could provide more than £18million in funding towards this project. I look forward to seeing the school once it's finished. "

Marr College works will be completed on a phased basis to minimise the impact on the school and reduce any disruption to learning and teaching. The new technical wing is scheduled for completion by the end of 2016, with pupils and staff moving into the building in January 2017. The refurbishment of the existing building and Sports block will be complete by the end of 2017 with pupils moving in the following year.

hub South West and Kier have already handed over the Marr synthetic Sports pitches and the temporary education building in which the pupils can learn, whilst this ambitious project gets going.
