Minister cuts turf for Dalbeattie Primary Care Centre

On 10th July, Health Minister Alex Neil attended the turf cutting for Dalbeattie Primary Care Centre.

Local contractor Ashleigh has been selected as the preferred construction partner for this project plus another Primary Care Centre in nearby Dunscore. These new care centres present a significant improvement in facilities for the communities.

Working in partnership with hub South West there is a commitment to support construction opportunities for the local community including apprenticeships and working with the local supply chain to deliver the scheme. It is currently forecast that over 70% of the work will be delivered by local SMEs, bringing significant economic benefit to the area.

The event was attended by NHS Dumfries & Galloway Chairman, Andrew Johnston, and hub South West’s Chairman, John McClelland CBE. Speaking on behalf of hub South West, Mr McClelland said: “We are delighted to be involved in our first project in the Dumfries & Galloway area. We are committed to delivering a fantastic new facility for the people of Dalbeattie and are very pleased that we have been able to involve so many local businesses to deliver the projects.”
